At a glance
Plausible runs without cookies and without storing any personal data or persistent cross-site identifiers. Visitor counting uses a daily-rotating salted hash that is discarded each day, so no profile persists. Because no personal data is processed, the project takes the position that a cookie-consent banner is not required under GDPR/ePrivacy for most deployments. Data is hosted in the EU and the product is open source and self-hostable, so the entire data path is auditable. There is no advertising graph and no data sharing with third parties.
